DMOZ Web Directory

There are many directories of websites on the internet that list collections of website based on a number of categories of topics. They are not used much these days as the search engines such as Google have become so good at finding what people are looking for on the web. The grand-daddy of web directories is DMOZ. How to get listed in DMOZ? Is a questioned that gets asked by webmasters a lot as they want their websites listed there. Google uses DMOZ to populate its own web directory and there is a widely held belief that having a website listed in DMOZ will help the ranking in the search engine. It is certainly debatable if that is the case or not. DMOZ is run by a group of volunteers and has no source of income, yet webmasters seem to think they have a right to be listed and complain bitterly if they can not get their sites listed!
